Where does teak come from?
Teak wood is a deciduous tree produced in Southeast Asia and is known as one of the most valuable woods in the world.
Native to Burma and India, teak wood is cultivated in many Southeast Asian and South American countries due to its high value and fast growth rate. Therefore, teak wood is also categorized into natural teak and cultivated teak. At present, most of the natural teak wood is still concentrated in Myanmar area.
And teak wood can be divided into many kinds of teak wood according to the different places of origin. For example, Burmese teak, Indonesian teak, Indian teak and so on.

The high value of teak wood is reflected in what?
With high stability and corrosion resistance, teak is widely used in interior decoration, yacht decks and outdoor construction.
High stability makes teak wood is not afraid of the wind, sun, rain, in the face of all kinds of bad weather, teak wood shows the stability of other wood can not be replaced.
In the 20th century, teak was used for the deck of British warships, this dec
k is easy to repair and replace, strong stability, poor thermal conductivity, very popular with the crew. The same period of the Titanic also used teak, more demonstrated the high stability and high value of teak characteristics.
Why does teak have such strong stability?
Teak generally grows in areas with both dry and rainy seasons. Natural teak wood is typically 50 years and older, while planted teak wood is typically 25 years and older. Teak wood slowly absorbs silica from the soil, which transforms into its own oiliness.
The oiliness in turn brings hydrophobicity and corrosion resistance to teak, enhancing its stability. As a result, natural teak is generally more stable than planted teak.
At the same time, the longer ageing of the trees gives teak a higher air-dry density. As a result, teak becomes harder and more durable and rot-resistant.
